Conditions of Participation

As of October 2025

1. The Competition

The organizer, Dance Performance, hosts the Spirit of Talents Dance Competition – an open dance and singing competition held from May 16 to 17, 2026, in Metzingen.

Participation is open to individuals and those affiliated with a ballet, dance, or music school or a similar association.

The competition is divided into various disciplines and age groups and is open to artists of all ages – from beginners to semi-professionals.

The audience area is open to all participants, their supervisors and accompanying persons, as well as the general public and performing arts enthusiasts.

2. Registration

Registration is only possible via the online registration form or registration portal on the website (exact URL to follow).
Registration is binding upon receipt of the registration documents and payment of the participation fee.
The registration portal is expected to open in October; the number of places is limited.

Registration must be completed by the responsible dance school, institution, or teacher on behalf of the participants.

By registering, the registering institution confirms that, in the case of underage participants, the consent of their legal guardians has been obtained for their participation and for the use of image and video recordings.

By registering, participants declare that they assign all rights of use in connection with the competition – in particular film and photo recordings – to Dance Performance. No separate declaration of consent is required.

By registering, participants or their legal guardians consent to the processing of their personal data for the purposes of registration, organization, and implementation of the competition, as well as for the publication of results lists, photos, and videos.
Data processing is carried out in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Further information can be found in the privacy policy at www.spiritoftalents.de.

Upon receipt of the registration and payment of the participation fee, a binding participation contract is created between the registering person or institution and the organizer.

3. Categories

  • Classical Ballet (with and without pointe; pointe from age 12 only)
  • National Dance / Folklore
  • Modern / Contemporary
  • Jazz / Showdance
  • Open*
  • Singing & Dance**
  • Singing*** (differentiated according to classical singing and other styles)

Notes:

  • * Styles not listed above or pieces that combine multiple techniques.
  • ** Choreography in one of the above disciplines; the choreographer does not have to perform.
  • *** 50% dance, 50% live singing. Background vocals are not allowed.
  • **** Any style (e.g. musical, folklore, pop, jazz), live singing only. Background vocals are not allowed.

4. Age Groups & Group Division

5. Performance Time Limits

  • Solo: 2:00 – 2:30 min
  • Duo: 2:00 – 2:30 min
  • Trio / Quartet: max. 3:00 min
  • Small group (4–10): 2:30 – 3:30 min
  • Large group (11+): 2:30 – 4:00 min
  • Singing: max. 5:00 min

Note: Original variations in ballet and national dance are exempt from time limits.

6. Age Rules for Groups

For duos, trios, the oldest participant’s age applies.

In groups, a maximum of 30% may be up to 1 year older than the defined age group.

7. Performance Levels

8. Jury & Scoring

The jury consists of 3 to 5 experts per category. All jury members have professional dance or vocal training and stage experience.

Jury members will be announced prior to the event.

The jury’s decision is final and binding.

The scoring is based on a multi-dimensional points system:

  • Max: 120 points per performance
  • 4 criteria per performance
  • Up to 10 points per criterion per jury member
  • Total = sum of all scores

Scoring Criteria – Singing: Intonation, vocal technique, musicality, interpretation and expression

Scoring Criteria – Dance: Technique, artistry, execution, overall impression

9. Awards & Prizes

Awards ceremonies will take place shortly after each block of performances. Times will be published in the schedule.

All participants receive a certificate. Podium winners receive a trophy.

10. Participation Fees

Slots are only guaranteed after full payment.

Participation fees are non-refundable.

The event will be professionally recorded. All participating institutions will receive access to the official footage afterward.

11. Additional Regulations

  • By registering, the terms are considered accepted.
  • Stage rehearsals follow a strict schedule. Late arrivals or absences are not entitled to rescheduling.
  • Music must be uploaded via the portal in mp3 format and brought to the venue on USB as backup.
  • Uncooperative or unsportsmanlike behavior will result in exclusion – no refund.
  • All rights to audio and video recordings are transferred to the organizer.
  • Participation is at your own risk. The organizer is not liable for items or valuables.
  • The jury may reassign performances to a more fitting category – no point loss.
  • Performances must be age-appropriate. Politically or socially negative content, discriminatory statements, or profanity are prohibited.
  • Own lighting effects, open fire, or explosive items are not allowed.
The organizer reserves the right to cancel or postpone the event for organizational reasons or due to force majeure (e.g., official requirements, illness, strikes).
In such cases, there shall be no entitlement to compensation or reimbursement of fees already paid.

14. Final regulations

Should any provision of these conditions of participation be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions shall remain unaffected (severability clause).

German law shall apply. The place of jurisdiction is the registered office of the organizer.
